Using VoiceThread for Test Review

While this is not exactly a digital story it is an example of how I helped a colleague create a VoiceThread. I selected images that went with the topics Jason Schrage needed to cover in one of his review sessions for the 8th grade Social Studies text. He created the script that went with each idea and image. He also invited people from his personal learning network to give his students study tips which modeled proper use of a web tool. In the future with any project like this I would recommend allowing students to interact on the VoiceThread with students in other classes or students from other schools or even ask questions for others to answer which would help them practice online collaboration.

30 Second Summaries: A popular form of storytelling recently has been the super fast retelling of stories.  Condensing an entire story into a 30 second video is challenging and fun.  This could be incorporated in either a video or a digital story with still photos and music.  The example here is actually a Nextel commercial, but it is great.

Greek Mythology: Students could create short digital versions of common Greek Myths (or fairy tales, or Shakespeare, or historical events... anything).  Here is one I made about the myth of Prometheus.
